leave the bark on.i have found out the sap wood is sensitive.i had a piece that cracked after 6 months of drying took the bark off and in a few days had cracks in the sap wood.

Vegardier: If you intend making a bow immideately you could remove the bark from that stave--if you reduce it to near bow thickness and width. Otherwise, as above poster noted, the sapwood can check....

Thanks.then I'll leave the bark and cut the wood into staves, and let it dry for about a year. (just in case )
